Buddha of Limitless Light. He presides over his own paradise, the Western Pure Land, to which he welcomes anyone who calls upon his name. His benevolent gaze symbolizes his compassion. The sculpture is made of old sandalwood which is very rare. It is currently forbidden to cut and use young sandalwood trees. The sculpture rests in a Zushi, a miniature shrine with double doors used to store important Buddhist items. (sold separately)
